The basic reason to use graphite in the mix its to avoid the obstacle gripping thus minimizing the contact (maybe lubricity isnt the right word, then my bad) so the more you improve that the better is the performance of that part of the mix, of how much... who knows... another test panel coming up i guess: just silica.

Then embedding something hard in a soft compound, silica and resin, its the best way to offer a durable surface, even more that just an hard shell (there are even examples in nature about that)
