The Pygmy kayaks we just butt the panel slices,no scarfs. The panel to panel joints are filleted. Off Cabrillo Beach surfing stuck to bow in the sand at speed did a vertical pirouette in 3' of water and never left the cockpit till the wave retracted, laying on my side in the sand moaning, NO Damage. As Lee said, you maybe over thinking.
