I have built both the Arctic Tern and the Coho and have logged a lot of river miles in both boats. As you know, one is hard chine and the other a soft chine. I pretty much agree with Skiffrace on his assessment of the Tern. I like the quick turning of a leaned turn in the AT; however after many miles of paddling I prefer the Coho. It just seems to suit my paddling style a little better.

I also agree with Paul's recommendation to call Pygmy and talk with them. They will give you good advice and have tons of experience. The good news is that if you have already narrowed your choice between the Tern and the Coho; you will end up with a nice boat either way.

If you still are looking at other boats, I can recommend Waters Dancing boats too. They make good river boats but with the value of the dollar, buying a Canadian boat right now may prove to be too expensive. I have visited the CLC shop and their products are of the highest quality. CLC sells S&G boats based on designs by the Schade brothers which are highly regarded boats. I also like the looks of the One Ocean Kayak S&G boats. Same old story: So many boats, so little time
