: What will the coaming heights be when finished? Will you be putting in
: all-wood hatches, or something like the kajaksport ones?

The height from the keel on the inside of the hull to the top of the coaming will be around 150 mm (6") aft and 300 mm (12") in the front. I still havent decided on hatches. Ill probably use beckson lids, and put in a dayhatch rear of the cockpit as the only hatch to be used. IO know that these lids are more prone to jamming than VCP hatches, but I dont want to use them much, they are less obtrusive visually, and the wont break my budget. I really dont want to put as much money into hatches as into the rest of the kayak totally. My budget is 500$ btw.
Hatches to the two greater compartments will only be for removing moisture, so Im thinking of putting the rear one through the bulkhead inside the cockpit (the "dayhatchroom" will will not cover the entire width of the kayak). In the front I really dont want a hatch, but as I want a bulkhead more than an "airbag" Ill probably go for a Beckson lid in the deck too.
