Personally I'd forget 1" tape, it's so narrow that it won't do much of anything for strength and really hard to get it straight on a seam. For narrow tape I'd just cut it from cloth. I'd also cut it on a bias (diagonally across the weave) then all the yarns work for you, they all cross the seam instead of at best 1/2 with straight cut tape and conforms to curves much easier.

For minicell foam the best price I've seen was from CLC. (cheasapeake light craft)
