Getting the sawdust out of the way is indeed a major issue. I was hoping that the rocking or oscillating action of a jigsaw blade would allow it to swing back from the fresh cut area on the up stroke, allowing some of the sawdust to migrate down, and then as the blade rocked back it would take a fresh cut, and push some of that sawdust out.

Obviously the longer the stroke the easier to clear the woodchips from the kerf. The longer blades for the reciprocating saws tend to have teeth whcih are widely spaced, but even with this, they only go a few inches before I have to back them out a fraction of an inch and let the blade force out sawdust from the cuts.

Ah well, problems like this are what keeps me from spending any money on frivolous projects. :) I knew there was a a reason why I hadn't built something like this before.
