: So Paul, what is the AKA then "also known as"?

That is it, exactly.

AKA is the common abbreviation for the phrase "Also Known As". It might refer to an alias or a variation in spelling or use. A person might be John Smith, aka John Howard Smith, aka John H. Smith, aka Howard Smith, aka John Howard.
When busineses incorporate or change hands their names may change, but common custom may promote the use of the old name, so "The Clippery, Inc., aka John's Barber Shop"
