Strip: Recessed Deck Fittings *LINK*

I managed to get a hold of 21 Valley recessed fittings (see link below. They're third from the bottom) Somehow I need to build the recess to fit them. So far the only idea that I've come up with is cut a hole in the deck 1 1/4", insert a ball (ping pong is the right size), PVA, and mold a carbon fiber/glass recess to set this thing in.

The fitting itself is about 1 1/8" across and a little over a 1/4" deep.

Anyone have any other ideas?
