: I need to buy a compass and I am looking at the S-59W white RITCHIE COMPASS
: KAYAKER for kayaks. I like the heading indicator at the base to set your
: heading while paddling. I’m assuming that this compass has compensators to
: adjust for any metal that might throw it off, but I haven’t see this

The Ritchie is an excellent compass. Compensators add considerable weight to a compass, not many small ones have them. We've been thru this recently but best is to keep compasses away from anything magnitized.
