Btw, no one ever seems to do this, but it'll increase the life of the cable dramatically. Go to a motorcycle shop and buy cable lube and lubricate the cable when you install it. Unlubricated cables corrode in a marine enviorment and even if only used on fresh water the strands of cables wear against the other strands and cause breaks. All stranded cable is designed to be used lubricated.
