Yes, it is the Ulua. The hull came together very quickly, it was all the other parts that took so much time. That and being unable to work on it for about four months....got sick...

I built an ama out of foam but it just didn't look right when it was done. Just about equal parts of ugly shape and bad craftsmanship. In June I started tinkering with some bow and stern forms from a Cape Ann kayak that I built the year before, reshaped them a bit, made some more to fill in the blanks and striped the ama in the picture. I am much happier with the second effort. The latest project is coming up with forms for a striped "broken wing" ama for the other side.

Sound like I'm hooked yet? I don't think anyone on this board has ever understated how this building bug gets to you.

Good luck with yours. Send some pictures when you think it's time to show off!

I'll look for the book! Thanks for letting me know it's out.

All the best

:Very nice. Is that an Ulua? I've been working on my (still unfinished) T2
: since Feb. 2004, so you are actually quite the speed builder. Gary's new
