Strip: 1.5" Strips on a Siskiwit Bay *Pic*
A builder in TX is using 1.5" strips cut from a 2x to build a Siskiwit Bay. It looks pretty nice and has the appearance of a smoother hull to me. I might try this on my next kayak.
