: We are looking to move (from Poughkeepsie, NY), and have been trying to
: figure out where to move to. We are not fixed in one place by my job (I
: can work remotely for the most part) so at least in theory we could live
: anywhere. So the question is where would someone move to if they wanted
: lots of great paddling?

: I will narrow it down a bit - we would prefer less winter (a longer paddling
: season!) than we have now. We like wild places best, but at the same time
: we want to live somewhere with educational opportunities (like near a
: large university or other learning center). And of course like most people
: we do have limited funds so half-million dollar houses and such are way
: out of our reach.
: We have paddled in rivers and lakes and an ocean bay in Maine, but more open
: ocean paddling sounds a bit dangerous/scary to us.

: We have an opportunity at the moment to move to the Dallas area (Richardson),
: but it does not seem to fit our criteria. Is there good paddling in that
: part of Texas?

Hi Paul
There are only two places that meet all your criteria - New Zealand or Tasmania!!
