: Hi all,

: It's been almost two years since I started my first project, a Chesapeake
: 17LT. Been paddling it for a while now and have the urge to have another
: go at a boat that is perhaps a bit more playful and bit
: "different". I'm considering the S&G Night Heron, the Bluefin
: and the Cirrus LT. I have the plans for the Cirrus LT but am a bit limited
: in my ability to get the panels all cut out so I'm thinking of doing
: another kit this time around. Any thoughts?

: Thanks,

: Mike

What did you end up with finally?

I am considering exactly the same designs. New to S&G, but have a Klepper Aerius I and my wife just bought a Feathercraft Kahuna. I'd like to keep up with her around here, so a sea-worthy low-volume fast kayak would be best. I'm 150 lbs and 5'10".

Seemed from everything I've read, the Night Henon was getting good reviews. CLC's not so much (North Bay) and there were some dissending opinions on the Cirrus and the Mortenser. All of these have similar hull shapes. Also, the Night Henon came in some various options.

What I have not seen is a discussion of how the hull shape of the Night Henon compares to a Bluefin or Hunter (from Bjorn Thomasson Design).

I'm not interested in a kit, but plans. So Pygmy or Water Dancing aren't options.

Thanks,

Ruedi
