Hi Paul,

I thought about the temperature softening the glue, checked and found very little heat buildup. The tip about making a new insert is a good one that I found when studying this board and from the designer of my kayak plans. But all the inexpensive saws that I have seen use a different type of insert, one that has no support on the outside of the blade. I first tried ripping without the filler piece. I did not have a problem with the strip getting hung, but the thickness was different along the width of the strip. I believe this was caused by the strip twisting a bit from the downward fingerboard pressure. This is why I made the extension to the one I have. The only support is between the blade and the fence, with a screw at each end to hold the insert in place. The one I made works well, but I have not yet cut strips continuosly for several hours. I will keep an eye on it. Thanks for the "heads up".

Barry
