reaction to epoxy fumes

I'm laying up my kayak right now and I'm hoping to fibreglass over the x-mas holidays. My problem is that I built a cedar strip canoe years ago and burnt my face quite badly with the fumes. Now it takes very little for my eyes to puff up and itch any time I mix up even a small batch of epoxy. I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with barrier creams. There are some that purportedly protect against epoxy fumes.
