I agree with Nick. Push the breaks back in place (if you need more than tape to hold the pieces together, use wires & stitch & glue it all together, just like when you originally joined the panels.) Sand it down& glass it, and you're ready to go. I'd run a continuous piece of fiberglass around the outside of the hull, centered over the breaks, wide enough (about a foot?) so I could feather the edges well. Do the same with the inside and you're all set.

I did the same sort of thing to fix a small hole in the bottom of my Arctic Tern (caused when my friend hit a barely submerged rock while running a rapid on the Missouri River.) It works fine.

Now, if you want, you can build another boat for yourself and consider this as your "guest boat" ... since it's already been through the ringer, you won't cringe when your guests scrape over barnacle covered rocks while trying to land.

You can either paint it, or leave the "battle scar" there.... in which case you can tell great stories about how you got attacked by the Loch Ness Monster who nearly broke your boat in half, but you didn't get any pictures of it (except on the car rack going home) because you were too busy banging it over the head with your paddle to get it to let go of your hull.....and/or, you can point to it the next time a friend offers to tie down your boat to the rack, saying, "um, no thanks. I'll do it myself."
