: hello everyone,
: i've taken the summmer off to train to run a marathon. now that its over i
: started work on my yak again. i'm haveing probs with getting my walnut
: vaneer to be completely flat on my deck. the method i'm useing is
: 1) coat vaneer with titebond II
: 2) let dry
: 3) iron on vaneer
: it works really well with the smaller decorations, but when i use large
: sections i can't get the bumps out of the vaneer. it won't lay flat. i
: know grant laminates large sections on his yaks, i wonder how he does it?
: ideas?
: thanks everyone,

good for you on the training
but how large are the pieces? are there any littler pieces beside the larger pieces? Could you preseal the deck and lightly vacbac the pc down?, could you drill holes thru where adjacent tiny pces were to go and thru clamp around the larger piece?, could you saran the veneerless area, lay down plaster w/ wood backing, pull off and use that as a clamp for putting the venneer in place and putting even pressure on?, could you support the inside, lay down the venneer and drop 15tons of sand on top and then remove?, could you seal the hatch put on the venneer w/ an overlay of sealed saran and anchor it to the bottom of the sea for 10hrs or so? (not quite to deck collapsing depth), could you lift up little slivers of the veneer and squirt in drops of accelerated CA?, Could you drill pin sized holes and insert a pile guitar clamps all around?, say you end off with an even pattern of 1/64in holes-big deal? could you wrap 6 web clamps around the yak w/ say 2inches max space in between?

anyway, some might work.
