: Hi all -
: When I finish my Cape Ann Storm, I'm still planning on dropping the Hobie
: Mirage drive system into a kayak as a possible next project. It would be
: more of a cruiser/touring platform, pictures, fishing, etc. Do any of you
: have first hand paddling experience with BOTH the Great Auk AND the Pygmy
: Osprey Standard?

Hi Jim,

I've paddled both of them, albeit for about 10 minutes each, so take my opinion for what it's worth. The Great Auk was at the Newfound Rendezvous last year and I paddled the Osprey while on a trip to the Apostle Islands. I felt the Auk was the more stable of the two. I can't really compare tracking or maneuverablity because my paddling time was so limited. Bear in mind that the Auk was nicely outfitted and Lake Winnipesaukee was flat calm, while the Osprey had a Thermarest seat pad and Lake Superior was a little choppy. That said, I still think I liked the Great Auk better.

HTH,
Jim
