In Response To: colors? (Mike)

: Greetings,

: I am building a Chessy 17LT. I really like their color schemes for hull
: painting and a varnished deck. I am trying to get some input on colors. I
: want the dark blue, but I realize there might be some visibility issues.
: Can I paint it blue and get a dayglo-yellow PDF and solve the problem, or
: should I just paint the bottom white or yellow? Pros and Cons? Thanks in
: advance.

hi mike,
you've gotten some pretty good responses. all are right on. a lighter color will hide scratches better; hence, 80% of s&g yaks are painted white. i went with international orange. not as orange as say coast guard, but orange none the less. i'm toying with idea of painting a giant tiki god on the bottom of it and having refective paint for the eyes if ever capsizedyou could see that from a mile off. you see very little of the bottom when in the water. i'd say go with something different. ok maybe not orange, but you get the idea.
build on,
brett
