the good part of falling w/ that is that the yak only will fall away and won't take you with it when it goes. probably a good safety consideration. Otherwise you can just see me hanging on the edge of the precipice and then the yak pulls me off. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. . .

the difficult part is that the yak's cg is above the thwart balance, so you have to work the lines to just keep the yak balanced. the other is that the yak is so high that any bending forward or back will be some considerable lever arm on my body so that straining would be a big problem.

I surely wonder why with the pack already a rigid member that they don't just extend the side of the pack up another 9 inches add some large pads, maybe a spreader. Then the yak'd balance naturally as its cg is lower than the side pads. You could shorten up the sides so your head is close( as visually acceptable ) to the keel or seat bottom(not touching) - and then the lever arm on the body would be lessened.

And if absolutely desired, you could have like 2 little ratchets that fit in the sides so the yak(like windsurfer cams) could be lifted up to a compromise or none at all between what the paragraph above and what their system is.
