: I went on a kayak river trip on the Wisconsin/UP border this weekend. I
: managed to carry our tent cookin's and my own kayak for a 1/4 mile
: portage. However, it was not pretty and I was not satisfied carrying the
: boat on my head, or with it hanging down from my hand. Has anyone
: developed a good yoke that does not get in the way or front and back
: portage packs? - Scott E.
There was this guy at LL Bean kayak symposium two years ago who had an external frame backpack with a kayak carrying mount on top of the frame. He was selling the set up. He was runnign around the exhibit floor with a kayak and the back pack on his back. Looked easy. Of couse he didn't have a full pack or a slippery slope of mud to climb and black flies to deal with like in the real world.
I can't remember his name or company. Nick was there. Maybe he remembers.
