That's a loaded question: sharpening (especially scraper sharpening) is a little bit subtle... so there are all kinds of recipies out there. This is mine: File the sides and edges of your scraper so there is no burr. The "blade" edge should be 90 degrees (no bevel). Put the scraper in a vise (blade up) and drag your burnisher along it at a 45 degree angle a bunch of times. Then hold your burnisher at 0 degrees (perpendicular to the blade) and drag it along the same way. You will get a hook on one side of the blade.

Also, you don't have to file off the burr every time. Good luck.
