In Response To: Speaking of Canoes ??? (Rehd)

: Pygmy has a 17' x 35" 60 lb S&G canoe kit Taiga Wilderness Tripper, rather expensive at $985.

Chesapeake Light Craft (CLC) has a great looking "LapStitch" 12' x 28" x 26
lbkitfor $500 in their catalog. Pretty much solo at 225 lb capacity- but I
think they have 14' (solo intent, but double in a pinch) and 16' or larger models (definitely doubles) on their web site. I don't have prices at hand. I am tempted towards one of these as a fishing
boat for myself and 10 yr old who currently has no interest in paddling, but
loves to fish while I chauffeur in a rented double kayak (plastic-yuk).
However, I currently plan to build a small second kayak, probably Pygmy Arctic tern 14, in hopes kids will be able focus on paddling and fishing while I paddle my Coho.

The CLC LapStitch canoe in the photo is beautiful. A canoe does look appealing for family/fishing versatility. Anyone built or paddled one?
