: Well, I'm ready to paint my canvas kayak. I've had conflicting reports as to
: what to use. Someone told me marine paint. Also remember being told boiled
: linseed oil and oil base paint. Which is better?
: Thanks,

Marianna:

I recommend a good acrylic latex exterior house paint. I used it over 3.7 oz Dacron in my recent Putz/Skene 18.5 ft boat and it looks and performs very well. I used a sealer and UV filter under the latex, and wet sanded lightly between coats (5). My paint (Benjamin Moore) was satin in texture. Use a 3" grey (wood handle) foam brush to minimize brush marks, paint several thin coats with vigorous brushing, tip-out the foam by dragging with the brush 'till it can't be seen, and let the paint dry as recommended between coats.
Hasn't leaked yet!
