: I, too, got some of my hand tools from my father -- a cabinet builder. But
: sadly to say, I have no son to past them to. No, not that I do not have
: any son ( I have two in fact) to pass the tools to. They are all into
: computer and electronic stuffs and would never give my work or tools a
: glance. None of my nephews ( lots of them) are into making stuffs. All
: toys and furnitures are store bought. I hand craft some wooden toys and
: they quitely disappear quickly.

Tony - there may be another possiblity here.

My granddad was a "hands on" kind of guy who had a whole collection of hand woodworking tools - about a dozen planes in every size and shape. These were "old" when I was a young kid watching him use them. My Dad never used them, but was wise enough to store them in a crate. Now that they are both gone, I've recently opened the crate - releasing 45 year old memories - and I'm expressly using some of these tools on the construction of my first kayak project. I'm finding the process to be VERY reflective.

Maybe you can convince one of your children to hold onto them for the grandchildren???
