I used redwood for design strips, and fell in love with it. Cuts and mills much better and cleaner than WRC or AYC. The books say it's heavier than WRC, but the density difference from tree to tree is greater than the difference in book numbers from species to species. Around here (Seattle) it's pricier than WRC, and getting worse, but it surely is nice material to work with.

: Can I get some opinions on using redwood for strips on a Kayak. If anyone has
: used it compared to cedar. I really like the dark color.

: Thanks
: Steve
