: Hey there Mike, hows Atlanta?

Pretty good, our 5-1/2 week-old god-daughter smiled for the first time yesterday. It's been raining, but yesterday and today have been sunny hot and humid.

: Would you describe the framework underneath the 3 piece deck for the
: engineering challenged.

Just put a piece of frame everywhere that you want a seam.

: I'm picturing the raised portion of the deck meeting the flat part at about
: 6" in front of my feet, put a level deckbeam there. Halfway back to
: the cockpit I would need to raise the level by 3" or so with some
: truss work and finish at the cockpit with a 6" rise from sheer level.
: How strong does the framework need to be?

That sounds like it should work. Use beams at the cross-seams and longitudinals stringers to define the panels. You may need some bracing to hold the shape while building. The frame doesn't have to be too strong, but it does take the place of the fillets to some extent.

: I really liked how easy it has been to fit panels using the plywood on frame
: method. I assume you cut glass cloth to fit the panel inside instead of
: trying to make it go around the chine and keel?

You are correct there, I just pieced the glass in to fit the panel shapes. But, you will probably want some light fillets to keep water from getting in between the stringers and the panels. I had some problems with this on Curt's Plywood Walrus. I plan on Drying it out this winter and putting in some microballoon fillets for waterproofing. On the other Plywood Walrus, I'm putting in the fillets as it is being built.

: Thanks.

No problem, fortunately my friends have internet access, so I can maintain my addiction while I'm away.

Mike
