Of course you are crazy, we'll leave sanity to other life forms. With a couple of spot lights and potted ivy plants it's easy to bring the aesthetics of a kayak into ones domestic decor. Martha Stewart hasn't discovered this yet. Do you have a straight shot out the door? I mean the maximum height width is in the center of the kayak so swinging it around is usually more of a determining factor than the total height. Figure 25"x14" gross exterior dimensions at the widest points. It's the construction mess that'll drive you guys batty, you might consider a 10'x100ft sheet of 6mil plastic to confine the garbage to the plastic when lifting it up and down, get carbon filter respirators, a BIG fan to slowly blow air out the window and bring fresh in from the building. If the sanding is going on indoors I hope you have deaf neighbors and a shop vac with random orbital sander attached, if the neighbors don't want the screaming sound of a sander then you'll have to be very neat with applications of anything that started out as a liquid so you don't have dust filling up kitchen spaces, clothing,carpeting,furniture.... I've got it: sheets of 6mil plastic with 1x1/2" furring strips on edge, when you're working the strips go to the ceiling corners covering everything, when your not and the kayaks are on the ceiling the sheets of plastic are rolled up on the floor? get lots of gloves, start picking out the music.
