I also have the three sources mentioned and all three make skinning more of a chore than needed.

If you buy a canvas pliers at an art store (for stretching canvas for paintings) you can stretch the skin drum tight and staple it to the top of the gunnels. Now all you have to do is lace up the deck as tight as you can and remove staples as you go. This makes getting a tight skin really easy. Morris's book and Cunningham's article really fall short on skinning and Boucher's skinning method is way too laborious.
