John,

I built one last year, but didn't get to paddle it much before it changed hands. Here's my observations based on my limited paddling.

This boat is extremely responsive to edged turns. I was playing around and paddled to get some speed, tracked straight for a while, then lifted one knee slightly - Off I went to one side. It feels very solid leaned over - I could dip the cockpit edge underwater and it was still edging comfortably.

The boat is a little tender while sitting upright. Paddling straight will induce a little rocking motion and therefore, you might fishtail a little with the slight edging. Drop the skeg, and it tracking really firms-up. I don't know how it handles in the wind, but I'd imagine the skeg would be a great benefit in windy conditions.

More photos and construction details on my website.
