yes. You do want to attach the lip from underneath not on top of the deck. When you cut the opening for the oval one, there's not a lot of lip assembly material overlaping ffrom below (3/16" or so_ ) I epoxy it in, then make a filet over the plastic on to the wood and cover it with some small strips of glass.
