: I have a Woodshop that is about 11x18. Really it's just a wide single car
: garage. I'm considering making a 17-18 foot Kayak. Am I just asking for
: trouble working in such a small work area? I'd move to the basement for
: the duration of my construction, but the finished basement is my kids play
: room.

: Also, could someone provide me with a gerneral list of tools I might need to
: make a basic yak? $$'s are tight and I may not be able to order the wood
: if I also have to put another $150 - $200 in tools. How many clamps am I
: going to need?

: Thanks for all your help

Its enough space!! You will want to orient it diagonally so you can easily walk around the ends to go pick up the handplane you left on the wrong side for the 100th time a day :)

As far as tools, it sounds like you are going to order precut strips???
If so, you will need a hand plane, it doesn't have to be a great one, just needs to be sharp.
A small hand saw helps, I used an exacto hobby saw and also a japanese pull saw, both cost under $10 each
20 or so clamps are good but you can buy as needed, a couple is enough to get started unless you are building stapleless.
A hand stapler and staples
Duct tape or masking tape to hold the strips together inbetween forms

Thats enough to get you started, I probably forgot a few but is isn't that many. Maybe a jig saw to cut out your forms.

Get going!!
Its great fun.
