: Hey John,
: Don't think of it as a trip of a life time. Think of it as your first or next
: trip of a life time.... :) I don't know many people who have been able to
: limit themselves to just one journey into this pardise. Good luck enjoy,
: stop and savor. Grab a seat for the great sunsets , the amazing sunrises,
: the northern lights..... Ahhhh pat the granite for me.

: John, there is an old Ojibaway tradition of sprinkling a little tobacco on in
: the water for the Kashapeewee before starting out on a long paddle trip.
: I have always adhered to the tradition and my trips have been mightily
: blessed by the Kashapeewee, (Creator) filled with the actions of the
: Mimigushi (local spirit Tricksters) and I have ridden on the backs of the
: thunderbirds. (vehicals to the spirit world in local mythology) and my
: boat has been filled with fish and blue berries. Haven't dared to run the
: toll booth so I can't give you a contrary story. Still for all of that
: don't forget to give the lady her due. :)

Hi Russ,

Three times in my life I wanted to do or see something so bad that I was afraid that an injury or worse might keep me from it. The first was going to Canada for the first time, the second was seeing men land on the moon and now soloing in the BWCA in MY boat is the third and I know it will give a great feeling of accomplishment. Quite a thrill, and as long as I can stay healthy and in shape,I do plan on going back. Perhaps Quintico next year. You, more then anyone has pointed the way for me to take this on with some knowledge about it. I don't smoke anymore but I won't violate Indian traditions. I do remember you telling me to read the early history of the area and so taking a good book while I am sitting at the waters edge would be perfect.

Take care,
John
