Thanks for all the great input guys. While I didn't find exactly what I wanted, I did get allot of food for thought and some awsome pics. AS far Yaks go, the 14' Auk is about the closest to what I wanted. I may give some thought into fattening the beam a bit. Many of you suggested double paddle canoes ( decked or open). While this gives me a bit more freeboard than I'd like on windy days, it is a very interesting option that has my attention. Odly enough, I just started a "quicky" 11'9" x28" luan S&G DP canoe to
replace the 7'3" x 30"yak that my 13 year old has just outgrown. I'm now anxious to finish so that I can test paddle it and weigh the canoe/kayak tradeoffs. Perhaps a partially decked Wee Too rigged for solo /Double paddle is what I need.
More sleepless nights on the way:-)
