I haven't heard from you in a while. It's great to hear from you again.

: Actually, the V-10 gets better mileage than our little 8's - It's touted at
: 17mpg whereas I see about 12mpg with my 5.2l V8 . . . So watch what you
: say.

I heard the V-10 got 12 mpg when I ordered my truck, that's one of the reasons I didn't buy it. I get about 13 most of the time in my 5.9l V-8 which consists of some highway and some city. The highway is not as much cruising at a normal speed as it should be though. It's slowing and accelerating a bit more than should be required. You see around Seattle is the only place I've been where there are sign's that say "State Law, Slower Traffic Keep Right", but most cars that enter the highway immediately shoot over to the left lane and get in the faster cars way even though they aren't passing anyone. But, that's another rant for a later time.

When traveling down the highway, as in a trip to Montana, I get over 18 mpg. I am actually not against conserving and am quite excited about the new hybrids that are supposed to be coming out like the 2003 Durango which is supposed to be a gas-electric hybrid. It's supposed to get better mileage AND out-accelerate the 5.9l v-8.

I think that we need to live our lives and enjoy them and not be so extreme on our ideas, most of which are emotion-based and not fact-based. I think that there are way too many extremists out there who base their environmentalism on distorted statistics and made up science. Twenty years ago we were going to go into another ice-age if we didn't stop polluting and now it's global warming. I love to push their buttons when I get the chance.

BTW, what do you think would happen if Bob and I were to get into a head on collision? Him in his 86 econobox and me in my 4x4 truck with dual airbags. I would probably be saying bye-bye Bob. How much fuel is it worth saving to drive a death trap?

What is Bob doing on this web site? Does he not know that the woodstrip, stitch and glue, or whatever kind of kayak he is making is a 100% waste of our natural resources. He does not NEED a kayak to survive. There are also probably many toxins produced as a by-product of manufacturing that computer he is using. And what about the electricity he is using to power it. Maybe it's from a coal burning power plant or a fish restricting dam, or a nuceur waste producing plant. I doubt he has solar cells on his roof, on second thought maybe he does.

I had some environmentalist squeeking about my truck at work. He drives a Subaru. He lives farther than me from work and he makes almost daily trips to go skiing in the winter. I drive about 11K miles each year. After comparing our mpg and miles driven per year I figured out that he actually burns MORE fuel than I do. The egg was all over his face. My motto is live closer to work, and drive what you want.

If people really want to conserve our resources, then stop having so many kids. Each kid is exponential to the number in future generations. One guy in our group at work is younger than me and just had his 5th kid! What about China pumping out as many kids as they can until they have a boy. All their unwanted girls get adopted over here which means that we're just helping them make more. That's another rant for another day though.

Gotta go, I'm all ranted out.
