You're forgetting that the purpose of the glue is to hold the strips together until the 'glass and epoxy are applied. It's the glass that gives the composite its strength, not the glue. It also provides a waterproof barrier.

It seems that the most popular glue among the builders here is Titebond (not Titebond II), which is not waterproof, either. Has anyone here experienced any failures that could be attributed to the glue use to hold the strips together?
