Scott,

I find it more comfortable than standard footpegs.

I also found that my feet don't slip, as they have done with footpegs. This happened while performing a strong brace recently and has also happened during roll attempts. A large platform for you feet can be a reassuring thing in more extreme conditions.

Just to let you know, I have standard footpegs on one of my kayaks(Arctic Tern), deckbeam footbraces in my two skin kayaks (Walrus, Skinny Walrus), and made the one from the plans in Nick's book for my brother's kayak (Plywood Walrus).
