Susan ,
It would be a great boat for someone of your size. I tried it at Rendevous last year. It tracked great. Remember all Bidarkas use water flow very differently then Greenland kayaks. That bow will give you its best when you most need it. Big seas and wnd will have it lifting and splitting thus you get stability and dryer decks. When I tried it out, it was also extremely fast and had one of the lowest wind profiles on the beach. It was also very suprised by its comfortable cruising speed. Susan, its faster then sin! There are other designs out there that have more go straight built into them, but this boat won't let you get blown around either. Shooting star trades cargo capacity for speed and a lowered wind profile. So think on the length of your trips. If your not going solo for a month its not going to be an issue. All boats are a set of operational and performance trade offs in the water. Shooting star is a good set of trade offs.
If its the boat that has been tugging at your heart strings well then .... ya just gotta build it.
