the body putty is too brittle, it will crack under any deflection - don't use it unless reinforced w/ long fibres, and even then it will crack.

try gluing(water based)thin layers(thick as make the curve) of styro foam around the cockpit edge on top of the deck right beside and say 3/4in high. shape it w/ some sandpaper to the desired inside coaming curve. lay glass up over. setup, remove foam, fair out.
