Hi Scott,

The only other club I know of besides the one Ross mentioned is:

The Rio Abajo Rowing Club: an openwater rowing club doing backcountry rowing in
Whiterock Canyon on the Rio Grande. Mark Miller 505-986-0678.

I don't know anything about them, but they might have more info. There should be a few canoers around too. REI might be a good resource for asking questions. There are some commercial outfits that do hired tours of Cochiti and Abiquiu lakes. Those lakes and the smaller canyons of Navajo would make for some nice paddling. Perhaps a float down the San Juan. Give it a shot anyway. You'll be surprised by the number of people you can interest :-) Besides, you've already have a first class builder in the family to call for help :) .
