Hi Rick

I am building a Walrus and using #12 Cotton Duck, which is lighter than the #10 by about 3.5 oz per yard. Not a lot of difference and maybe more prone to puncture, but I'll be using it on mostly the lakes here local and watching for trees and rocks. Pearl Paint is a great site. They carry all the canvas sizes and are about half the price of others. I priced around and most were in the $130 range for my 18 1/2' Walrus, and I ended up paying $67.00 and got all 60" wide and an extra 2 yards of cloth for each, the deck and hull pieces.

For what it's worth, I got the canvas before I started reading all the comments on nylon fabrics and urethane finishes, so I just kept going with the canvas. But, If and when I try it again, I will probably go with the dacron or nylon fabric for weight savings and toughness.

I'm just covering the hull and deck of my boat the past couple of days and the canvas has been very easy to work with, but I've never tried the other so can't give you a comparison.

If you decide to go with the canvas, then Pearl is the place.
