Brad, I believe you can get some of the cardboard tubes from any local carpet store, or at least from their jobbers. The plastic wrap is a good idea also, for what's extending out the ends, but after wrapping, be sure to tape the ends. All too often, I've seen that plastic wrap whipping in the wind and flying off. That may leave your strips very vulnerable to the wind as well.
