: skins. If they are outside we'll probably by them all. How can we identify

Hey Roger & Foster

If the plywood is going in a glass boat, it doesn't matter does it?? Go for it!! My brother and I ran into the same exact problem a couple months ago. We went to our Home Base as well and scarfed up 20 sheets of 3' x 7' door skins. We Paid $3.00 each. The good part was that when we walked outside with the plywood a fella walked up and asked if we were needing any more of that. We went to his shop and were amazed at what we saw. This guy salvages all kinds of wood products to make pallets and the rest he sells to a local Co-Generation plant which in turn grinds it up for fuel. Here's a picture of what I paid $130.00 for a couple of months ago and we have since gone down there and picked out 40 more sheets of 3mm. Most of it is Oak, and about all is in some way damaged, but at $1.00 a sheet, who's complaining. :)

The damage usually amounts to a few 1/16" knots or a little water damage on the edges, where the cabinet shop can't use it, so they give it to this fella to grind up or make pallets out of. It's about 1/2 5mm and the rest is either 1/4" or 3mm door skins. I also picked up the chunks of 3/4" with ply core and particle board core for $40 for the whole pile. Lots of cabinets and forms in that pile. ?)

Anyway, that's what we scored from Home Base and also from the cabinet shops waste. I can't emphasize more that folks should check out their local shops for plywood for their forms and such. No guarantee they'll find the stacks of slightly damaged 3mm, but........ ????? :)

Cutting around their flaws will be a " sheer " joy!! :)

Again, I'd say go for it on the door skins. Most all plywood is exterior glued these days and even if it isn't, they will be sandwiched between two layers of glass. I don't see a problem right off hand. ????

I think I can build one of each now. I just hope I have enough time left. :)
