I discussed this with Joe recently and decided that it didn't really matter. I was going to cut it out after it was all fiberglassed. However, since I had already drawn the lines for the cutout and still needed to sand the area for glassing I decided to go ahead and cut it out ahead of glassing so I wouldn't have to re-draw it. I don't think it matters.

BTW I am very anti vertical strips before glassing. That is what I did on the G3 and it was a nightmare getting the glass to lay flat around the strips. I am doing the verticals after the glassing this time and it is much easier. My own personal opinion for what it's worth.
