CLC Chesapeake 16LT

Hi, folks- Getting to build a CLC Chesapeake 16LT for the significant otter, and would like to solicit some advice. We're shooting for a weight as close to 35lb. as we can get, and are planning to go with their racing package (3mm ply for the deck and sides, 4oz. glass). Is this an unrealistic weight? If not, how much less durable will the boat be with this layup? We're planning to attach the deck without nails; how much can we trim off the shear clamps without compromising strength? Any advice greatly appreciated.-Greg
