taping outside seam

The interior deck/hull seam taping went pretty well and now it's time to do the outside. I've sanded about 4" on each side of the seam with 80 grit and slightly rounded over the sharp edge at the shear. My plan is to cut my strips of 6oz bias cloth, saturate them with resin and apply - butting the ends. My only concern is whether the scatches left from the 80 grit sanding will harbor little pockets of air that might end up trapped beneath the tape. Would it be wise to brush on a coat of resin first and apply the bias cloth after the resin has set up (green)?

As always, thanks.

Jim
