To glue nylon to foam?

In my seat re-d0, I am modifying Joe's seat arrangement by adding a flip-up back rest. To do this, I attached two short peices of webbing to the top of the back rest, and need to attach them to the foam center piece that supports it. So far it looks real good, I'll be able to fit the paddle float, pump, and emergency kit, lunch, and more behind the seat.

I'm thinking of cutting into the foam, opening up a slit and glueing the webbing in with contact cement. And then possibly running a brad in from the front, through each of the two straps, burying it into the surrounding foam like a pinned mortise joint. This whole assembly is jammed against the coaming at the back, and should stay in place.

Is contact cement the best glue for foam in all cases? Will epoxy stick? What about polyurethane? I think if it's a flexible joint it will be stronger.
