Well, me and the Guillemot got to know each other a little better this time! I launched on the Red River in Shreveport La., whew, what ever the top speed is of my kayak, the river has a current about 1 or 2 mph slower, thank goodness.

I would go upstream for about 15 minutes and then return in less than 2. I also found out that big obstructions such as a floating casino paddle boat causes a great amount of turbulance and a decidedly increase in current. Do not try to paddle upriver of a large paddle boat!!!

The best for last. I reported that my Guillemot + 6% turned out 63 lbs completely outfitted with two hatches, bungies seat and foot brace plus 2 bulkheads. Well, I seemed to be handling the boat very easy on and off the truck so I checked the weight again, this time the whole boat instead of each end. My wife read the scales as I held the boat!! 55 lbs. I am very pleased with that, wonder if I sanded 8 lbs off, naahhh.

Thanks Nick for a great boat, I'm still getting used to. Rolls when the water warms up and not the river, ha.
