Ignoble use of fine design

My wife made a (rare for her) request for a wood made product. This came at a moment when I was looking for a low impact project to try strip building before starting my first kayak. Nick, I beg your forgiveness and forebearance if you think this ignoble. I will be building a kitchen garbage can from the section forward of the cockpit on your beautiful Guillemot.

I'm thinking of finishing out the lip with a coaming and skirt lip. The top cover, though, seems to be too stiff to make from strips; its low height would limit the amount of curve possible. S&G, though, might work top and "hatch".

Mike.
